In this article let's discuss the main differences between 2D and 3D Animations. How one can decide which animation suites best for their requirement. Let's start our discussion.

2D Animators design frames to define a scene sequence. Then those frames are moved at varying speeds to create the illusion of motion. 3D animation has in-depth clarity in rendering photo-realistic scene sequence. The texture, brightness, and color of the 3D subject are adjusted using software applications. Video games, Commercial advertisements, Walk and fly through illustrations mostly use 3D Animations.

2D animation focuses on composing characters, storyboards, and environments in two-dimensional backgrounds. In 2D Animation the character will move up, down, left, and right but they don't move toward or away from the viewer. However, in 3D Animation the character can move toward or away from the viewer. Bitmap and vector graphics are used to create and edit the animated image in 2D Animation with the help of specialized software.

The 3D animation production process involves 3D Modeling, Texturing, Rigging, Animation, Dynamics, Lighting, and Rendering. The first step in 3D Animation after your script is to design a storyboard. Animators will draw a series of still sketches showing the basic plot of your characters over time. This process should have a lot of back and forth because it's easy to switch stuff at this step, much troublesome to do it later. Now the 3D models should be designed according to your script. After 3D model designs now animators will rig the character. The animators can move it around, both the body and the face. We name this procedure as a character test or Rig test. Concurrently props are designed now to interact with the character. The final step is to render everything out. In this process, low-resolution animated clips are rendered by specifically designed computer software to get the ultimate photo-realistic animated picture.

The cost to make 2D and 3D animations depend on the style & scope of video production service. It varies from Rs.800/sec to Rs.2500+/Sec depends on several factors as we discussed earlier.
